Launched in 2012, LIFT 1 marked the first microcredit initiative for MIF, aiming to promote local development and empower local communities by instilling economic stability in the Byblos region. This pioneering project focused on supporting small businesses and artisans by providing them with affordable financial resources.

As such, LIFT 1 offered interest-free loans and grants to help entrepreneurs launch or expand their ventures, while MIF bared all associated costs such as interest rates, loan insurance, and application fees. This approach aimed to alleviate financial barriers and encouraged local residents to invest in their skills and businesses.

Partnering with Vitas, a reputable microfinance institution, and Fransabank, who facilitated the efficient distribution of funds, MIF ensured that loans reached a diverse array of sectors, including agriculture, commerce, and crafts. By doing so, LIFT 1 sought to stimulate job creation and foster a vibrant local economy.

Overall, LIFT 1 laid the groundwork for sustainable development in the Byblos region, reflecting MIF's commitment to enhancing community resilience and empowering individuals to thrive in their hometowns. The project's success set the stage for future initiatives, paving the way for LIFT to become a periodically repeated project that MIF embarks on to provide continued support for local entrepreneurs.
