December 2024 - MIF has successfully completed the construction of four new bathrooms, to address urgent infrastructure needs and provide refuge for displaced families during Lebanon’s September 2024 conflict. The new facilities have allowed the school to continue serving both its students and internally displaced people (IDPs) amidst the national crisis. With the war forcing many families from their homes, the school faced immense pressure to accommodate both its growing student body and the influx of IDPs. The new bathrooms enabled the school to separate its spaces into two sections—one for education and one for displaced families—ensuring a safe environment for all. The school was one of the first to reopen its doors even before the war had ended (cease-fire agreement was reached but IDP were not allowed to go back to their villages), and the additional facilities ensured that students could continue their studies while providing a much-needed refuge for those in need. MIF’s timely intervention has helped sustain educational continuity for 305 students while simultaneously offering critical support to Lebanon’s displaced population.
