MIF supported the Public School of Amchit by funding the construction of four new bathrooms to address the school’s urgent infrastructure needs. Due to a lack of sufficient sanitation facilities, the school was facing severe challenges in accommodating its growing student population. Additionally, the project became critical when the September 2024 war in Lebanon caused a surge in IDPs seeking refuge and the school was tasked with accommodating them, putting additional pressure on its already strained infrastructure.
Consequently, MIF swiftly adopted the project, enabling the Public School of Amchit to effectively address two critical needs amidst the national crisis: accommodating IDPs while ensuring the continuity of the students' academic year. The establishment of 4 new facilities allowed the school campus to be divided into two distinct sections: one dedicated to IDPs and the other to the students. It is important to note that this school was one of the first to reopen its doors to students even before the war had ended. The addition of new sanitation facilities ensured that the school could function as both, an educational institution and a safe haven for displaced families, providing a secure environment during an incredibly challenging time.
