Enhancing Tourism through the Establishment of "Our Lady of the Seas" statue in Amchit Port

Responding to a request from the Cooperative of Fishermen in Amchit and the local fishermen community, MIF installed the ‘Our Lady of the Seas’ statue as a symbol of protection and hope. This initiative aligns with MIF’s objective of promoting sustainable local development through projects that have a positive impact on both the community and the economy. The statue served as a meaningful symbol for the fishermen on one hand, and on the other it created an opportunity to attract religious tourists, adding a new landmark to the region. By enhancing the area's religious and cultural appeal, MIF aimed to increase tourism and raise awareness of the cooperative’s efforts. This community-centered initiative aimed to support local economies by increasing the exposure for local products and services, potentially leading to higher sales and providing economic opportunities for some of Lebanon’s most vulnerable communities.
